Dr. Anil K. Jain attained his M.S. (Orthopaedics) in 1984 from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal. He worked as Senior Resident (1985-88) at Central Institute of Orthopaedics, Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi and joined as Lecturer(1988) in Orthopaedics at University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), University of Delhi. Subsequently he was promoted as Reader (1992) and appointed as Professor of Orthopaedics in 1997. He was elevated as Principal of UCMS in 2019 and superannuated from the same position. He served as Head of the Department of Orthopaedics, Faculty of Medical Sciences, university of Delhi for 9 years and Dean of Faculty of Medical Sciences (October 2020- April 2022), university of Delhi.

He was awarded WHO fellowship (1992) for training in spine surgery, IOA foreign fellowship (1999), AO fellowship (2000) and Commonwealth fellowship (2010) for training in spine surgery. He was awarded FAMS by National Academy of Medical Sciences New Delhi (2012) and FRCS by Royal College of Surgeons of England(2011).

He has published over 143 articles in peer review indexed journals with H index of 33 and I-10 of 80. He has unique distinction of publishing highest number of articles on TB spine in the world with 10 of his articles featured in 250 most cited articles. He is Listed among top 2% scientists from India (independent study by Stanford University Scientist) Google Scholar shorturl@/qHIJ4. He was Team lead to INDEX TB Guidelines( 2016). He is the Editor-in-chief of Annals of National Academy of Medical sciences and Indian spine journal. He has been the Editor of Indian Journal of Orthopaedics (2007-2012),

Deputy Editor(2016-2018) of Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (Am). He was Guest editor to Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research for Feb 2005 and July 2007 issues. He was editor and principal author of Tuberculosis of Bone, Joint and spine, Multi authored Text Book “Turek’s Orthopaedics Principles and Their Applications” 7 th Edition. “Neglected Musculoskeletal Injuries”, Recent advances in Orthopaedics 2020 He delivered Silver Jubilee lecture of IOA(1993), Kini memorial oration(2015), NAMS oration, president lecture IOA, plenary lecture APOA and various other orations of state chapters. He delivered over 500 lectures in various PG courses. He was associated with Indian Orthopaedic Association in various capacities as Member, Executive Committee (1994-97), Chairman, Implant Committee (2002-2004), Chairman, Super speciality Training Committee (2004-2006). He was President of Indian Orthopaedic Association (2013-2014). Notable contribution of Prof Anil K Jain is that Indian Journal of Orthopaedics got indexed with " Pubmed & quot; and quot; Science Citation Expanded & quot; and Indian spine journal with DOAJ and Scopus during his editorship.
